You can’t withdraw SRD grant at the supermarket

We are getting this question a lot.  You go to the nearest supermarket to withdraw SRD grant.  But, you find that you can’t withdraw the grant from the store.  Now, you are confused because you know for a fact that the store is a legitimate SRD grant withdrawal point.

We have done the research, and we have some answers for you on why you can’t withdraw your grant at the supermarkets.  We are also going to give you some advice on places where you can withdraw grants and how you can change the payment method if necessary.

Lots of different supermarkets are available to withdraw SRD grant

By now, you might know that many different supermarkets are available for you to withdraw the SRD grant.  Supermarkets where you can go when you receive an SMS that you can collect your grant.

However, if you are just going to any supermarket, you might find that you can’t receive your money.  There are some good reasons why you can’t receive your grant at just any supermarket.

You might think that it is unavailable

  • You don’t qualify to withdraw the SRD grant when you have applied for other grants.  And, therefore you can’t just go and withdraw if you don’t have the authority to do so.
  •  You need to make sure that you go to the Post Office for collection, or you need to change your payment to a bank transfer.
  •  If you didn’t apply for other grants as well, using the same number, you can call Sassa head office and sort it out.

The different supermarkets where you can withdraw your grant

Because of the large number of people withdrawing SRD grant, Sassa decided to make supermarkets available for grant collection as well.  You just need to make sure that you are registered to collect or withdraw your money from any of these supermarkets.  Otherwise, you might go stand in queue for nothing.  They will not pay if you aren’t registered to collect money from a certain supermarket.  These are the supermarkets that you can get your SRD from.  If you have registered to withdraw from a supermarket.

  • Checkers

  • OK store

You can’t collect your grants at BP PicknPay express, PicknPay clothing, and PicknPay liquor store.  You will need to provide your ID and cellphone number.  The cellphone number needs to be the same number you apply for the grant.

Changing your payment method for the SRD grant

The good news is that if you don’t withdraw SRD grant from a supermarket, you can always change it.  You can go online or phone the Sassa hotline.  They will assist you in changing your collection to the store that will fit best for you.  Remember, you need to have the right cellphone number, and it needs to be Rica in your name.  Otherwise, the application won’t be accepted.
