There was an announcement last week about new Sassa payment days for Sassa recipients. However, there is a lot of confusion about these new dates. Many people don’t understand it and don’t know what it means for them.
To make things easier and to get rid of all the confusion, we are giving you everything you need to know about the payments and when you can now collect your Sassa grants. Make sure that you don’t have any worries about getting your grant during April 2022.
From April 2022 earlier collection days for grant Sassa payment
By now, you know when you can collect your Sassa payment. Different days for different types of grants. However, it has changed, and the new changes will take effect on 1st April 2022.
Now you can start collecting your grant from the second of each month. However, if the 2nd falls on a weekend or public holiday, the collection will start the first weekday after. This was announced on news sites, but many people are still confused about the changes.
Confusion if this includes the R350 payment as well
Some of the confusions that Sassa recipients have about the new payment dates is if this includes the new Sassa SRD grant as well. Most people think that this includes all the Sassa payments, including the R350 SRD grant.
The question that we have is why there are so many people that don’t understand the new payment regulations. Firstly, not many people have social media and are following the news online. So, they don’t know and don’t understand the important information that was announced during the month.
The notifications that were sent out didn’t reach everyone, and it wasn’t clear about all the Sassa payments. We will make it more understandable for everyone.
R350 grant regulations and Sassa payment dates didn’t change
The first thing that is very important to remember is that the R350 Grant payments didn’t change. This is still the same with certain people receiving their grants on certain days. And that you need to wait for a confirmation SMS about your receiving day.
So, if you thought that your payments would also now be made earlier than April 2022, then you are mistaken. Only the normal and permanent Sassa grant payments will change to the second day of each month or the first weekday if the pay date is on the weekend.
Explanation on how the new payment dates work
Let’s break the new payment date up for you. So that you can understand more about how the new Sassa payment works.
- From April, payments will start on 2nd April. But, because this is on the weekend, it will go on the first weekday. Meaning Monday, the 4th April 2022. This will be for the older person grant. The month always starts with the older person’s grant.
- The disability grant recipients can collect their payments the second day, which will be the 3rd of each month or the day after the older person’s grant.
- Child support and the other Sassa grants, excluding the R350 grant, will be paid on the third day of Sassa collection dates. Meaning that the child support collection can be made from the 4th of each month.
For questions and inquiries
You might now understand the whole process a bit easier. You will get your Sassa grants a couple of days earlier than before. However, this is still in the same line as before. First, the older persons grant the next day the disability grant and then the child support grant and other grant recipients.

Sassa cleared the confusion about the new Sassa payment dates from April 2022. Many people thought that this included the R350 SRD payments. This isn’t true. The payment changes are just for those that are receiving normal or permanent Sassa grants. The R350 payments go on as normal, with dates that will be SMS to you.
